PM Dhan-Dhanya Agriculture Scheme: In the month of Sawan, the Modi government has given a big gift to the farmers. In the meeting of the Union Cabinet, historic decisions were taken to strengthen the agricultural economy and increase the income of farmers. The central government has approved the ‘Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana’ (PMDDKY), under which Rs 24,000 crore will be spent every year.

After the cabinet meeting, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that this scheme will focus on increasing agricultural productivity, irrigation facility and post-harvest storage capacity. It is expected to directly benefit about 1.7 crore farmers across the country.
The scheme will be implemented in 100 districts
The government has selected 100 backward districts in terms of agriculture, where 36 schemes of 11 ministries will be implemented in a coordinated manner. This program will run for 6 years. Monitoring will be done at the district, block and state level in every district so that its effect is visible on the ground.
Focus on green energy along with agriculture
In the meeting, it was also decided to spend Rs 27 thousand crore to promote green energy. The central government believes that crop diversification and adopting sustainable agricultural practices will increase the income of farmers and also protect the environment.
